PROPOSAL TO GUAN JOO SENG MALAYSIA – STATIONERY & HARDWARE STORE PROPOSAL
Introduction
Guan Joo Seng is a mini-sized traditional sundry store situated at 569-A, Tanjung Bunga, 11200 Penang, Malaysia. Based on the current market survey on the requirement of stationery products and hardware, additional items have to be added to the current store to promote and increase the sales, enable more complete sundry products to be sold at the store. This is part of the minor expansion project to boost the sales of other items as well. The additional stock could be piled up safely under the properly designed shop lot like Guan Joo Seng with limited shop space areas.
Objectives
This is part of the investment project to trial the stationery and hardware market in Tanjung Bunga area – near Chee Seng and Leader Garden in Penang, Malaysia. Addition of new store lot will indirectly increase the variety of product in the store to attract more customers especially from officers, schools and workshops to purchase items from the store as well.
Method of New Business Opportunity
1. Supplier of stationery and hardware will be contacted to determine possible items that could be sold easily by a small shop lot like Guan Joo Seng
2. Initial contract by oral or written agreement are verified between the supplier and Guan Joo Seng sundry shop to decide the discounted cost of purchase, after sales return availability without debt by the time of payment
3. Establish specific booths at the correct position, spacious enough for all items to be placed
4. Label all the stationery and hardware sold with market prices with list of prices attached in front of the booth for reference, to be promoted using the label board stick to the wall of Guan Joo Seng also.
5. Promotion banner and posters placed in front of booth to boost sales not only in the new but existing items
Prevention
Theft has to be prevented with more careful with smaller items. To protect the items from dust, moisture and other contaminants potentially destroy the sale items. All sale products are required to o be covered properly either by plastics or door shield of the storage cupboard. Stock take has to be conducted in every two weeks to refill the stock whenever required.
Opportunity
Sales person of Guan Joo Seng could take the opportunity to promote sales to nearby schools and colleges, religious centres like mosques, churches, temples etc via sale site visiting by opening booths to sell items in the schools and community events.
Back-up for Mishaps
Total cost of the small stationery and hardware store are expected Ringgit Malaysia Five Hundreds Only (RM500.00) in addition to the cupboard used for storage of items. The items on the shelf have to be paid one ump sum to the supplier. I the unfortunate case where the store owner does not wish to continue such stationery and hardware businesses the items either could be returned to the supplier with early contract or donated to the nearby schools or children welfare centre as part of social investment and contribution with the name of Guan Joo Seng in the donor list.
