INTRODUCTION TO HISTORY OF GUAN JOO SENG (GJS)
GJS in fact is a business name originated from Guan Joo Seng (Chinese word : 源裕成), a traditional sundry business lot established in 1920 by one of the Chinese migrant to Malaya, Kang Mah Chit. Guan Joo Seng in fact operated as a sales company of various agricultural and food products situated in the address : 569-A, Tanjung Bunga, 11200 Penang, Malaysia) till recently. After the demise of Kang Mah Chit in 1968, most of the businesses are operated by his two sons Kang Teik Hin and Kang Teik Hock till 1985 when Kang Teik Hin passed away. The business company then transferred to the hand of Kang Teik Hock and his family under the payment of Ringgit Malaysia Thirty Thousands (RM30,000) to the family of his brother Kang Teik Hin in 1985. After 10 years of operation, its shop lot experienced fire with the rest of the nearby shop lot in 21 September 1995. After a series of lawsuit, the company Guan Joo Seng decided to re-operate in 15 June 1996 lead by Kang Teik Hock till 26 January 2007 when the elder son Kang Chuen Hwee took over as executive from his father upon his long rest in the transition date above.
