Description
of Personnel
Director
– Director is the head of research unit in catalysis, chemistry and chemical
engineering. Director will have to
sub-contract research projects from various external resources, namely from
Australian Research Council (ARC), Department of Science, Education and
Training (DEST) Australia, international grant providers, industries interested
to outsource research projects to external organizations, universities and any
departments or city councils that provide money for conducting scientific
research education activities. Director
will need to negotiate in various legal issues relevant to the research
contract to discuss about research plan with other subordinates like research
officers, technical and academic staffs about financial, human resources and
reference resource management and arrangement to ensure all research are
conducted appropriately and safely, able to met deadline and produce sound
impact for continuous funding purposes.
Director will need to supervise at least 2 postgraduate students either
at master or PhD level and a few undergraduate students conducting practical
training and honour research projects, assisted by subordinates like postdoctorate fellows, technicians and other fellow
academicians in various forms of cooperation.
Main supervisors – Main supervisors are experienced
technical and academic staffs, normally with PhD qualifications, that assisting
director or group leader in running the operation of the consultancy Unit. Some major supervisors are postdoctorate fellows or representative technical
professionals from multinational companies that handle various tasks – seminar
organization, research paper presentation and publication, conduct routine
research and development (R&D) projects, supervising students of director
who may concurrently hold the position of professor in the universities. At the early stage of development of GJS Intellectual Company
Technicians and general scientists – Those staffs
under the main supervisors that assist in the technical work of research
projects are classified in this category.
Scientists are helped by general workers in setting up experiments as
specified by the funding organizations or as output from negotiations with
directors and main supervisors. Annual
salary is around Australian
Dollar thirty five thousands (AUD$35,000).
Students – Students pursuing master or PhD degrees
are guided by all technical staffs to conduct research projects based on the
scopes assigned by research supervisors, towards the confer of academic degrees
by the universities, either partially by coursework or full research, whereas
some undergraduate students are allowed to conduct vacation research training
where stipend is paid by grant or scholarships.
Supporting staffs – this will include receptionists,
cleaners, clerks, volunteers, normally supplied by the main organization like
the universities or research institutes.
Independent consultancy will need to employ supporting staffs from
agencies or advertisements, on contract basis, normally with salary range of Australian
Dollar fifteen per hour on part-time basis.
Sometime students without grants could apply for the position while
conducting studies.
